Static Elimination Supplies

This section introduces other static electricity countermeasures. Both of the items introduced here apply conditions to insulators that make electricity easily flow through them. This can prevent static buildup and its adverse effects.

Anti-static spray

Working principle of anti-static spray

A formula is sprayed onto the target.
The spray formula contains a surfactant. Surfactants work to make it easier for the target to blend with water.
When an insulator is sprayed with this formula, the surfactant makes the insulator absorb moisture in the air around it, creating a state where electricity flows more easily on the surface. This makes static less likely to develop.

Working principle of anti-static spray
  1. A: Insulator
  2. B: Surfactant coating

Anti-static spray applications

Anti-static spray can be used simply by spraying products on racks to prevent static buildup or kept close to a parts feeder to use when taking care of parts clogging in the feeder.

Anti-static spray applications
[Features]
Simple and easy static elimination
[Precautions]
Short-lasting effect
May change the surface conditions of the target

Insulator-turned conductor (conductivity treatment)

Working principle of conductivity treatment

Conductors such as carbon and metal may be incorporated into an object that is inherently an insulator during its manufacturing process to give it electrical conductivity.

Conductivity treatment applications

Conductivity treatment is mainly used for electronic circuit PCBs and storage bags for electronic components.
Plastic bags are insulators, so they will accumulate static electricity if left untreated. However, incorporating carbon, a conductor, into these bags allows them to release static electricity, preventing them from collecting dust and keeping them free of other problems caused by static electricity.

Conductivity treatment applications
[Features]
Conductivity-treated objects can have static electricity countermeasures applied via grounding just like a conductor.
[Precautions]
Incorporating other substances into a product may change its specifications.
The cost is higher than normal products.
