Identifying wrong connecting rods
Identifying connecting rods of the wrong type by measuring the total length and hole diameter.
Before connecting, rods are transported, they are placed in a jig to measure their hole diameter and total length in order to reliably detect rods of slightly different types.

Since connecting rods of the wrong type were previously checked visually before they entered the line, if one was missed it would cause operators to stop the line. Using machine vision equipment prevents these types of line shutdowns.
