Optical character recognition (OCR) of seat belt buckle printing
Machine vision equipment recognizes printed characters on seat belt buckles.
One of the largest obstacles to overcome in OCR inspection is choosing the correct lighting to accentuate the printed characters. KEYENCE's original OCR function is also capable of stable inspection under conditions of varying print density, varying character size, and tilted characters.

Printing on seat belt buckles was previously inspected visually and occasional mistakes resulted in buckles of the wrong type entering the process. Since vehicle seat belts are safety components, oversights such as the installation of wrong seat belt buckles should never happen. Using machine vision equipment for this application makes it possible to inspect all parts reliably and prevents wrong parts from entering the process.
